WHAT: Nordic Wolves & Pups is Minocqua Winter Park’s skier development program.
Our goal is to provide a safe and non-competitive opportunity for children in kindergarten through 8th grades, and their families, to have fun while learning how to cross-country ski. Parents and guardians are encouraged to join their youngsters on the ski trails to learn the sport, help teach it, and play on the snow. This program is volunteer/parent led; we encourage all parents to be part of the fun and the lessons – time on the snow together is a great family activity!
WHO: Kindergarten – 8th Grade students who’d like to learn to cross country ski in a fun and social setting. This program is designed for kids who are beginning to learn to ski, and for intermediate and advanced youth skiers who aren’t yet interested in competing in races.
Skiers who are 3rd Grade and up who would like to race are encouraged to join the Lakeland Nordic Ski Team (LNST). Nordic Wolves & Pups is a great springboard into a lifetime of social and competitive cross-country skiing.
HOW: Students will be divided into the appropriate groups during the first on-snow class, based on age and ability. Movement between groups is allowed. On Sunday and Thursday afternoons, our volunteer instructors will lead students through structured games and lessons to improve skills throughout the season.
WHEN: Thursday, January 10th – Saturday, March 2nd
