Now in it’s 35th year the Lakeland Loppet is one of Wisconsin’s longest running cross-country ski races. On Saturday, March 6th, 2010 citizens of all ages are invited to take part in this fund-raising event at Minocqua Winter Park. Proceeds from the event benefit the Minocqua Winter Park Trail Fund, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
The Lakeland Loppet has something for the entire family. For ages 13 and up there is a choice of 8K classic, 8K freestyle, 25K classic, 25K freestyle, 8Kclassic and 25K classic best of both, and an 8K freestyle and 25K freestyle. There is a 4K and a 2K for the younger kids, and if you’re not a racer you can sign up for the 8K or 25K tours. In addition we have a great Prize Raffle planned with ski related gear from Atomic, Rossignol, Salomon, Swix, Alpina, and Fast Wax. The first 200 registrants receive a T-shirt.
The Friday Night Pasta Blast will be held at Minocqua Winter Park preceding the Loppet on March 5thth beginning at 5 pm. Cost for the pasta dinner is $6.00. Registrants may pick up their bibs and goodie bags, ski on the lit base loop, and preview race day raffle items.
Chef Rick from the Hard Wax Café will be serving grilled food outdoors and menu items in the Chalet cafeteria. A Loppet Customer Appreciation Day Sale will take place in the Minocqua Winter Park Ski Shop.
